The board of directors of Bay Concert Band is searching for a new conductor to replace Mr. David Kjellberg, who is retiring from the position he has held for 14 seasons.

Bay Concert Band was organized in 1977 and for 33 years has been a place for recreational musicians to continue playing after they graduate from an organized school program. The band includes musicians from 18 to 80 years of age and from all walks of life. Although most band members reside in Bay County, many commute from the surrounding areas.

If you would like to be considered for this position, you should meet the following minimal requirements:

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in music
• Have conducting experience
• Be available to prepare a concert, or part of a concert, for the 2010–2011 season, which runs September through May

Under our current schedule, the band rehearses on Tuesdays and performs four Tuesday concerts, with a dress rehearsal the Monday prior to the concert.

Compensation to be paid per rehearsal and per concert will be determined by the board of directors.
